Fretboard King is a guitar practice app. Here is everything it does with data:
The app has no sign-up and never asks for your name, email, or any other personal details. Your practice scores and progress statistics are stored only on your device; deleting the app deletes them.
To understand how the app is used and improve it, the app sends anonymous usage events to Amplitude, an analytics service. These events cover things like: a practice session started or finished, its score, and which settings are in use. Along with events, Amplitude receives standard device information (such as device model, operating system version, language, and a randomly generated device identifier). If you choose to submit in-app feedback, the rating, topics, and any text you enter are included in those analytics events. This data is not linked to your identity — we don't know who you are — and it is not used for advertising or shared with anyone else. The app does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
The app works fully offline. Analytics events are only sent when a connection is available; nothing about practice requires the internet.
If you choose Play Mode or the built-in tuner, the app asks for microphone access so it can hear which note your guitar is playing. All pitch detection happens on your device in real time: audio is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. Decline the permission and the app simply stays in tap mode; you can change your choice any time in system settings.
If you turn on the daily note, the app schedules one local practice question a day on your device. No server is involved and nothing about notifications leaves your phone. Turning the toggle off cancels them.
The free app shows an occasional interstitial ad between practice sessions, served by Google AdMob. We request non-personalized ads only: ads are selected from context (like app category and general location inferred from IP address), not from a profile of you, and the app does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID) for tracking. To serve and measure ads, Google receives standard device information (such as device model, OS version, and IP address). See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from apps for details. Where required (for example in the EEA/UK), you will be shown a consent choice before any ads are served.
The app requests nothing else — no camera, location, contacts, or photo access.
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Analytics data is anonymous for all users.
If you would like analytics data associated with your device's random identifier deleted, contact us at the address above and we will request deletion from Amplitude.
If a future version of the app changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be noted here. (22 Aug 2026: added Play Mode microphone use, optional daily-note notifications, on-device progress statistics, and non-personalized advertising.)
